August 25, 2026Stop Sliding: Rotate Better for More Consistent Ball Striking
One of the most common issues I see with golfers who struggle with consistent ball striking is too much lateral movement through impact.
When golfers slide instead of rotate, it can create several problems, including inconsistent contact, poor iron compression, a steep attack angle, an excessively inside-out club path, and inconsistent driver performance.
In this week’s Tee It Up Tuesday, I share two simple drills designed to help golfers reduce excessive lateral movement and learn to rotate more effectively through impact. Developing better rotation can improve how the club approaches the ball, create more consistent contact, and help golfers strike both their irons and driver with greater confidence.
This edition also includes a few ways to continue improving with the Durland Golf School. Limited openings are available in upcoming three-day golf schools, and my remote coaching program through CoachNow makes it possible to receive personalized swing analysis, practice priorities, and ongoing feedback from anywhere.
I’ve also launched a new remote coaching webpage that explains exactly how the program works and how to get started.
