Practice Playing on the Range
Students often hit the ball well on the driving range but struggle taking it to the golf course. They practice drills and use training aids that improve their swing but yet their game does not improve. The challenge is becoming comfortable with on-course playing situations.
A great way to make the transition is to bring the golf course to the driving range. Pick an imaginary fairway on the range for your tee shot. Be specific! Imagine out of bounds left and water right. After your tee shot finds the fairway, pick a target green for your second shot. If you miss the green, hit a pitch shot to replicate an actual playing experience. Play par 3's, 4's and 5's; 9 or 18 holes just like on the course. This type of practice will help you gain confidence when playing.
